The Effects of Cysteamine on Serum Gastrin and Plasma Secretin



Abstract
Cysteamine is one of chemical agents inducing duodenal ulcers in experimental studies and known to producing more than 909¢¥0 of duodenal ulcers within 24-48 hours.
This study was done to investigate the hormonal changes of gastrin and secretin in rats following cysteamine administration..
The rats were grouped into 0. 5, 1, 2, 4, 8, hour of ter administration of cysteamine and then blood was sampled from inferior vena cava under the ether anesthesia and checked the levels of serum gastrin and plasma secretin. The results were obtained as follow;
1. The mean level of serum gastrin and plasma secretin in rats were 69.3 pg/ml, 71.8pg/ml, respectively. 2. The serum gastrin levels showed the increase at 1, 2, and 4 hour after cysteamine administration. 3. The plasma secretin level increased significantly at 1, 2 hour after cysteamine administration.
